Quizzes FAQs
Should I save each answer as I am taking a quiz?
Yes! If you have technical issues, the answers you saved will still be saved
in Online Campus. If there is still time available, you may be able to exit
out of the quiz, fix your technical issues, and start from where you left
off on the quiz. If you do not save the answers, there may be no indicators
that you answered any questions.
What is the difference between a quiz and a self-assessment?
The quizzes tool is used as a way to gather summative and formative
information on student learning. Be aware that your instructor can use the
quizzes tool as a way to provide a student with a self-assessment, but the
self-assessment tool cannot be used as a summative quiz that is to be
graded.
If your instructor is using the quizzes tool
- The items in there can be graded automatically.
- The results can be added to the Grades tool.
- The instructor can see what was answered correctly or incorrectly.
The Self-Assessment Tool is used as a diagnostic tool to help learners gauge
learner retention. If your instructor is using the Self-Assessment Tool
- Answers are graded automatically, but the feedback option must be
used
- The results cannot be added to the Grades tool
- The instructor cannot see what was answered correctly or
incorrectly.
What are there no exams?
Exams and tests have not gone away. The term Quizzes is used as a generic term
that includes Exams as well as Tests. Your instructor will decide how to
name these assessments from inside the Quizzes tool in the course, as well
as determine the value that should be placed on each assessment label. For
example, your instructor may decide to provide you with low-stakes chapter
quizzes, high-stakes multi-chapter texts, and even higher stakes mid-term
and final exams.
What does he quiz tool keep track of?
The quiz tool not only maintains the information of the answered quiz
questions, it also maintains a log of:
- The date, time, and IP address of when the quiz was accessed.
- The date, time, and IP address of when answers are saved and
changed.
- The date, time, and IP address of when quizzes are submitted.
- Time between answers.
- Order of quiz questions answered.
Why can't I access a quiz?
If you are unable to access a quiz and are receiving a “Not Authorized” or
“Internal Error” message, this can mean one of the following:
- The quiz is not available.
- The quiz has ended.
- The maximum number of attempts for the quiz has been reached.
Why can't I access the next quiz attempt?
- Confirm that your instructor has set the quiz to allow multiple
attempts.
- The next quiz attempt cannot be accessed until the previous quiz
attempt has been submitted. Submit the first attempt to access
the second attempt.
- The quiz has ended.
- The maximum number of attempts for the quiz has been reached.
I lost connection to the Internet/the page froze while I was taking a quiz,
what do I do?
Important: If you exit a timed quiz, time will continue to
run on the quiz timer.
- Exit the quiz and re-enter the quiz. Questions that have been saved
will remain.
- Be aware that the instructor is not obligated
to give you extended time or provide you with access to a past quiz
due to your technical issues.
Why am I unable to submit a quiz?
- If you are unable to submit a quiz, try to re-enter the quiz and
submit it (if time is still available).
- If time is not available, contact your instructor for further help.
- If answers were saved during the quiz, the attempt is set to “in
progress” and will be available for your instructor to view.
